Stone Nest Dojo (岩巣 — “rock nest”) opened in April 2023 on a 22-acre property in Sewanee, Tennessee, in the Cumberland Plateau. It serves as the headquarters of the American Zen Association and the home of Abbot Richard Reishin Collins.
The property's wooded trails, rock outcrops, and quiet clearings give the dojo its name and its character — a place to practice close to the ground, the season, and the weather. A short walking trail winds through the surrounding forest to a clearing used for walking meditation (kinhin) and quiet reflection.
Sewanee Zen is overseen by the American Zen Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit incorporated in Louisiana. All donations are tax deductible. Visit americanzenassociation.org to learn about the lineage, teachers, and broader sangha.
